As the summer sun blazes bright and warm, we're excited to welcome you to the August edition of our monthly newsletter, aptly titled "All In." Why "All In," you ask? Because that's precisely how we approach every day here at The Minority Connection.
Usually, August is a month of transition, as the languid days of summer hint at the coming fall. But with the SAG and WGA guilds striking against the AMPTP and climate change keeping the heat turned up, it's been challenging to keep a cool head lately.
I decided to take some time during these strikes to reflect on what I've accomplished in the industry so far, and then I reminded myself of the goals I still have yet to achieve. Clearly, our industry, weather, and world are changing all around us. Now would be a great time to pivot if you have any doubts. There's no shame in making adjustments when circumstances change.
I can't tell you how things will play out, but write down your goals, make your plans, and move accordingly. The path usually opens up after you start moving in the right direction. In the meantime, your creative allies here at McnxTv will be creating dope content and cheering you on as you do the same!

Can you believe we're almost halfway through 2023? It feels like we just kicked off the year, and now it's trying to speed away from us! That's wild. Anyway, since we're smack-dab in the middle, it's a great time to take a breath, check out where we are with our goals, and maybe do a little tweaking.

Can you believe we're almost halfway through 2023? It feels like we just kicked off the year, and now it's trying to speed away from us! That's wild. On the TMC front, things are looking up. I'm hyped about the progress we're making, and it's cool to see our projects come to life. But let's not sugarcoat things - the entertainment industry is going through it right now, with layoffs and strikes hitting hard. For creatives, it's like trying to paint a masterpiece during an earthquake.
Ups and downs are part of the game, and sometimes it feels like we're on a rollercoaster without seatbelts. So how do we handle it? Stay prepared and keep being you. That's how!
Let's stay focused, and let's keep creating - no matter the odds. We're all standing 'On The Brink' together. Ready to dive headfirst into the rest of 2023 and the future? Let's get it!

The future has arrived. "They've" been preparing us for it for most of our lives, but now the time is upon us. Artificial Intelligence is now available to the general public in a usable way. OpenAI has shared its AI technology, Chatgpt, and it is impressive. And it's only the beginning!
The future has arrived. "They've" been preparing us for it for most of our lives, but now the time is upon us. Artificial Intelligence is now available to the general public in a usable way. OpenAI has shared its AI technology, Chatgpt, and it is impressive. And it's only the beginning!
Everyone seems to have an opinion about AI, and the usual suspects of fearmongers and conspiracy theorists jumped out early on this topic. But, honestly, they're not entirely wrong. It's wise to be cautious about tech and how fast things are moving in our society. Imagining how someone in power might abuse this tool would be easy. However, focusing on that would block the good that everyday people would benefit from.
Chatgpt and other similar AI tools are poised to make the same kind of impact that the personal computer or the world wide web made in recent history but in record time. The times change, but the mission remains the same. We can dream about a brighter future, but someone has to do the work. AI may be able to help us figure that out.

Community Over Everything...
A rocket takes off and leaves its boosters behind as it flies into outer space. It's a necessary part of the process for the ship to get where it's going and for the astronauts to finish their mission. There are a lot of people and materials that make the whole event possible. Some of those people even continue to monitor the ship's progress. Perhaps, out of admiration or desire, but also because, eventually, that ship has to return.

It's a necessary part of the process for the ship to get where it's going and for the astronauts to finish their mission. There are a lot of people and materials that make the whole event possible. Some of those people even continue to monitor the ship's progress. Perhaps, out of admiration or desire, but also because, eventually, that ship has to return.
As Andre 3000 says, "Spaceships don't come equipped with rearview mirrors, they dip as fast as they can." It's easy to let your ego get the best of you in this business, in any business, to be honest, but you can't treat people like they're disposable. Every tv show, movie, and album has multiple names in the credits that helped make that project a reality. Likewise, every company has shareholders, employees, and customers that help make it profitable. We don't exist in a vacuum. Everyone plays their part.
That being said, make sure you take care of yourself, your team, and your community. I pity the fool that gets everything they've ever wanted but burned everyone that helped them get it...

There are a lot of cliches about making things or branching out on your own. If we think about it in story terms, the adventure starts when the protagonist takes the first step towards their goal. Art imitates life in that way. Your choice of profession or desire doesn’t matter because the beginning is the beginning, and you always start wherever you are.

However, the answer to the question that follows is usually the determining factor of success or failure, and that question is, Am I willing to “DO” what it takes? A verbal answer isn’t enough. We have to take action.

Welcome to the function...
Artists need to explore various ways to express their creativity. The game is constantly changing, so we have to adjust accordingly! Over the years, I've built a small following and helped people succeed in the entertainment industry because I've never been fond of gatekeepers, and I love cheering for the underdog.

Over the years, I've built a small following and helped people succeed in the entertainment industry because I've never been fond of gatekeepers, and I love cheering for the underdog.
There's so much content made nowadays that audiences are overwhelmed with the hype of the "machine" and the search for quality. As a creative, I love to tell exciting and original stories. As a consumer, I want to be entertained, not another metric in the viewership algorithm.
The industry doesn't listen, though. It's called showbiz for a reason. Our voices aren't enough. We have to show up and show out for the things we love! There is no shortage of excellent films, exciting shows, or fire music. You have to be passionate enough to look, and if you don't quite find what you're looking for, then maybe that's what you should create next!
